In this curriculum students examine the questions: What is a revolution? Why do revolutions occur? Why do revolutions succeed or fail? How do the outcomes of revolutions vary? Within each revolution we will also analyze social and ethnic structures or hierarchies. These lessons were designed to enhance a curriculum on the Age of Revolution, focused on the American, French, and Haitian Revolutions, by featuring the work of contemporary artists Allison Smith and Kehinde Wiley, and graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi.
